Astronauts witness 15 sunrise and sunsets everyday on the space station.

The International space station is situated about 354 kilometers above the earth, orbiting at a speed of 27,700 km/hr and completes its revolution around the earth within 92 minutes.
That is why astronauts see 15 sunrises and 15 sunsets, every earth day (24 hours).

A space sunset is very spectacular to watch as we could see many layers of Earth’s atmosphere. We could see the troposphere in deep orange color, which resembles land, sea and clouds. Above the troposphere lies a blue layer of stratosphere. It’s the region where airplanes fly. And in the end lies a deep blue or black layer of Exosphere which gradually fades into vacuum outer space. More shooting stars or meteorites are visible from the space station as compared from person watching from the earth because they get a wide view of sky. The space station is located at an angle of inclination of 51.65° to the equator.
